Sripathi Panditaradhyula Balasubrahmanyam (4 June 1946 – 25 September 2020), also referred to as S. P. Balu or SPB, was an Indian musician, playback singer, music director, actor, dubbing artist and film producer who worked predominantly in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Hindi and Malayalam.

S. P. Balasubrahmanyam was born in Nellore, Madras Presidency (present-day Andhra Pradesh) into an orthodox Telugu Brahmin family.[23][24][25][26][27][28][29] His father, S. P. Sambamurthy, was a Harikatha artist who also acted in plays.[30] His mother was Sakunthalamma, who died on 4 February 2019.[31] He had two brothers and five sisters, including singer S. P. Sailaja.[32][33][34] His son S. P. Charan is also a popular South Indian singer,actor, and producer.[35]
