John Keats. John Keats, (born October 31, 1795, London, England—died February 23, 1821, Rome, Papal States [Italy]), English Romantic lyric poet who devoted his short life to the perfection of a poetry marked by vivid imagery, great sensuous appeal, and an attempt to express a philosophy through classical legend.In 1818 he went on a walking tour in the Lake District.

He was an English romantic poet.He was one of the main figures of the second generation of romantic poets,along with lord Byron and Percy Bysshe Shelley ,despite his works having been in publication for only four years before his death from tuberculosis at age 25. He died on 23February 1821 at Rome.
