My great grandmother is my favorite person in my family. She is 81 and one sassy great grandmama. Yes she is pretty young for a great grandmother but my whole family is young. She grew up in Haiti and met my great grandpa when she was 18years old. He was her only boyfriend and first boyfrien. After they got married, she gave birth to 12 children. Only 7 of her children are still alive today. My grandma is the oldest child and she tried her best to help her brothers and sisters to come to New York. While in the process, creepily they started dropping dead like flies. After all the siblings and MY grandmother were brought to New York, sadly when my mom and my uncle were teens my great grandpa got him by a car and passed away. Then 2 weeks later another one of her children died from the same exact thing as her husband. My poor great grandma was depressed, everyone she truly loved were dying. She never wanted to dance, she just sat in the corner depressed. Nowadays my great grandmother has realized she should enjoy her life and not ponder on the past. Now she is always dancing and singing. She may forget to pull her pants down when peeing but she is my family member that I adore most. I don't understand a thing she says ever, because she never learned English, so when I don't understand her she laughs and we both end up hugging each other.

“mwen renmen ou Gran”

Is what I always say to her, which means I love you grandma
