They both ar chemical indicators used in laboratory to detect the nature of any substance that it's acid base or neutral. they both change colour example phenolphthalein is pink but gets colourless when added to acid solution.

It is an organic dye. in neutral or acidic solution, it is colourless while in the basic solution, the colour of indicator changes to pink.
It is an orange coloured dye and keeps this colour in the neutral medium. In the acidic medium, the colour of indicator becomes red and in the basic medium, it changes to yellow.

Also,Methyl orange and phenolphthalein use as indicator , In Acidic solution Methyl orange gives red colour but in basic solution it gives yellow colour . In Acidic solution phenolphthalein is colourless but in basic it gives pink colour . They both are used as a pH indicator .
