Supply approximately 2 inches of water so the soil is moist throughout the root zone. If the soil dries out quickly during dry weather, water twice weekly. Avoid overhead watering which can cause fungal problems. Fertilize tea plants every two months when they are actively growing in spring and summer.
After 3 or 4 years, this plant will begin to produce star-shaped white flowers that smell like jasmine. These flowers are followed by green fruits that change to red then dark brown/black as they continue to ripen.
