Rama's going to the wilds, hunting the golden deer, abduction of Sita, death of Jatayu, alliance with Sugreeva, killing of Bali, crossing the sea, putting Lanka on fire and slaying of Ravana and Kumbhkarna, that is all what makes Ramayana.

RAMAYANA is a story of Lord Rama, the godly king of all hearts of all Hindus who form a quarter entire human race. It is a complete story, a moving parade of devotion , emotions, love, romance, drama, plotting, sacrifice and valour. It's a treasure of Indian cultural values and colourful episodes of our past which shaped our thinking, beliefs and life philosophy. 

Ramayana comprises of eight $Kanda$ i.e., episodes which were as follows :-
1. BAAL KANDA (Childhood Episode)
2. AYODHYA KANDA
3. ARANYA KANDA (The Forest Episode)
4. KISHKINDHA KANDA
5. SUNDER KANDA (Fascinating Episode)
6. LANKA KANDA
7. UTTARA KANDA
8. LAVA - KUSHA KANDA

Ramayana's original epic was written in Sanskrit by Sage Valmiki. For Valmiki, Rama was superman of human values. 

This story of Rama is holier than the holy waters of Ganga. Its study brings peace to mind and prosperity to life. It inspires one to tread the path of truthfulness, kindness, sacrifice, compassion, mercy, valour, courage and justice which will ultimately lead to the salvation. 
It is  a moral and cultural guide for the present generation and for the generations to come.
