William Shakespeare- The bird of Avon

Every one in the English speaking world must have heard of his name. He is the bard of Avon William Shakespeare. His plays are very famous and art if literature. He has written in various genre.

First let us know about his early life...

William Shakespeare was born in 1564. He grew up in the busy market town of Statford-upon-Avon in England. The family name of Shakespeare is very old. William's father was John Shakespeare and he was a glove maker. He was also the mayor. His mother wwas Mary Arden. His parents had seven children and William was 3rd.Shakespeare went to King's New Grammar school in Statford-upon-Avon.

Next, Here, We will know how his plays impressed...

When Shakespeare wrote his history plays, he made sure that the Royal family was not insulted. He always impressed the Elizabeth I's family and the Stewart family.

Now, about his plays...

Shakespeared based his tragedies on Greek and Roman stories. Tragedies don't have a happy ending. Shakespeare made his tragedies a human touch

Here are few things about his tragic works. His romantic work Romeo Juliet also has tragic end. Some of the famous tragic plays of Shakespeare are Macbeth, King Lear, Hamlet, Othello and much more. Suspense and twists always attracted audience. He was versed in it.

In Shakespeare's tragic plays, the hero is a noble man who has some status and prosperity but the story become tragic due to some circumstances. His tragic plays are very interesting. And I suggest everyone to read at least one of his tragic play.

Then, Shakespeare also used myths, fairy tales and ghost stories. In A Midsummer Night's dream we meet imps and fairies. In Macbeth, we meet witches. In Hamlet, The hero is haunted by ghost from his past.

Comedies... They are plays with happy ending and a moral to be learned. Shakespeare's comedies involve playing tricks on hero and heroine mostly. All's well that ends well is one of his plays with the genre comedy.

Death of a playwright...

He died in 1616 on 23rd April. On 25th March 1616, he signed his will.

This is what was written on Shakespeare's tombstone:

"Good friend, for Jesus' sake, forbear to dig the dust enclosed here. Blest be ye man who spares these stones. And curst be who moves my bones."

He wrote these so that none dig up his grave.
