I guess this all depends which country you live and what the cultural values are. Generally, a custom is something that is considered normal acceptable behavior e.g. In England, we queue for anything without being asked and don't complain but I understand that this doesn't happen in America. General good customs are:
Having dinner together - Having dinner together emphasizes the unity of a group/relationship/family, it's a way to talk, share, listen, and support each other, making the bond closer, better.
Listen first, and only reply in a solution-oriented manner - A custom many people have forgotten, but this is something the really wise do, let others have their say, they try to offer them help, rather than criticism.
Show everybody respect, because they're fellow human-beings - Another forgotten custom, one of the main reasons there's a lack of community these days, all the focus on 'earning respect' turns everything into a conflict, a contest with winners, and losers.
Physical Education - People need to move, it should be a standard in our society to promote physical activity on a daily basis.
Washing you hands - Hygiene is a life-saving custom, in Countries where they lack soap, people actually still die from diarrhea, and other hygiene-linked disease.
