The base obtained from the sodium is Sodium Hydroxide. The another base obtained from the sodium is Sodium oxide. When we dissolve Sodium oxide in water, we get sodium hydroxide. Sodium Hydroxide is also known as caustic soda. Sodium Hydroxide is an alkali. It means that Sodium Hydroxide is a water soluble base. Sodium Hydroxide is a strong base which is used for the preparation of basic salt and neutral salt. It is used in the neutralization reaction. Sodium Hydroxide contains 1 mole of sodium atoms, 1 mole of Oxygen atoms and 1 mol of hydrogen atoms.
