In 1960s & 1970s, Govt. launched Green Revolution which was based on package technology and white revolution ( operation flood). However it benefitted a few selected areas.

In 1980s & 90s, Govt launched a comprehensive land development programme for the farmers that included crop insurance against failure, diseases, flood, cyclone, etc. It also included the establishment of Grameen banks to provide loans yo the farmers at a lower interest rate.
