answer: Rainfall in India is highly uneven over a period of time in a year.  The western coasts and North East India receive rainfall of over 400 cm. It is less than 60 cms in western Rajasthan and adjoining parts of Gujarat, Haryana and Punjab. Similarly, rainfall is low in the interiors of the Deccan Plateau and east of Western Ghats. Then, Leh in Jammu and Kashmir is also an area of low precipitation.

Answer:

Annual Distribution of Rainfall.

The distribution of rainfall in India is not even. It mainly depends on the relief of the land and the cyclonic depression originating in the Bay of Bengal. Some areas receive heavy rainfall, some moderate rainfall, and some areas receive very scanty rainfall. These types of rainfall are explained below :

Explanation:

1. Areas of Heavy Rainfall -: These areas receive more than 200 cm of rainfall in a year. Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, West Bengal, Southern slopes of eastern Himalayas, and West Coast receive heavy rainfall.

2. Areas of Moderately Heavy Rainfall -:  Areas that get annual rainfall between 100 and 200 cm come under this group. The middle Ganga valley, the Western Ghats, Eastern Maharastra, Madhya Pradesh, and Odisha receive moderately heavy rainfall.

3. Areas of Moderate Rainfall -: Areas that receive 50 to 100 cm of rainfall a year are known as the moderate rainfall areas. The upper Ganga valley, eastern Rajasthan and Punjab, the southern plateau of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu receive moderate rainfall.

4. Areas of Scanty Rainfall -: The areas receiving an annual rainfall of less than cm are included in this region. Northern parts of Kashmir, western Rajasthan, Punjab, and the rain shadow areas in the Deccan plateau receive scanty rainfall.
