Coalition means the which is a mixture of various parties having same opinion to form government it is needed when any party didn't get 272 seats in lok sabha to form government.
UPA( United progressive alliance) is the coalition formed by Congress in 2009 when it don't get enough seat in lok sabha.
NDA is the coalition formed by BJP with other parties which also have same opinion about the government.
