Country of central Europe . Before the S.W.W. a single state,it was decided after Germany s defeat into 4 occupation zones,and subsequently into 2 separate states,East and west Germany
There is an excellent rail network ; a road system with fine Automobile or Motorways. and internal and external air services centred in Cologne
The main rivers are navigable and the the canals incl. Rhine-Herne,Dortmund Ems ,Mittelland, Kiel, and Ludwig-- the last linking the Rhine and Danube.Tourism is impo,espec.in the black forest.
The chief towns are Berlin ,Hamburg, Munich,Cologne, Essen, Frankfurt-am-Main,Dortmund and Düsseldorf. The capital is Bonn
