There are 3 types of list in html4
1. Ordered list <ol>
2. Unordered list<ul>
3 Nested list (Mixture of ordered and unordered list)

they're cointainer tag and used with <li> tag which indicates where to put symbol or number etc and LI doesn't require any br tag to add space
