Explanation:  s - block consists of metals. The metals form oxides which are basic in nature. This means when the oxides of metals are made to react with water, they form bases.

For example, Sodium is a s-block element. When sodium oxide is made to react with water, it forms sodium hydroxide which is a strong base. Its pH is found to be 14 which shows it is indeed a strong base.

p-block consists of both metal and non metal. They are separated by a recognizable staircase shaped positions which represent the metalloids. The metallic oxide will be of acidic nature while the non-metallic oxides are acidic in nature.

For example, Cl2O7 is an oxide of chlorine which when made to react with water form perchloric acid(HClO4). Thus the nature of oxides formed by non-metals is acidic.
