Guru Nanak Devji started his First Udasi around 1500 A.D. During his First Udasi he visited the southern and the eastern areas of India. The following were some of the places he visited during his first Udasi:
- He started from Sultanpur Lodhi for Sayyidpur (Aminabad).
- From Sayyidpur he went to Tulumba.
- Then from Tulumba to Kurukshetra.
- He then went to Panipat from Kurukshetra.
- From Panipat he undertook his journey to Delhi.
- From Delhi he went to Haridwar
- After Haridwar he visited Gorakhmata through Kedarnath, Badrinath, and Joshimath.
- After reaching Gorakhmata he went to Benaras.
- From Benaras he went to Gaya.
- He then went to Patna and Hazipur from Gaya.
- Guruji then reached Assam via Bengal and Bihar.
- Through Guwahati and Shillong he reached Silhit.
- He then started his journey from Silhit for Dhaka.
- From Dhaka he went to Jagannath Puri in Orissa via Cuttack
- From Puri he started his journey towards the south.
- He first reached Sri Lanka via Guntur, Kanchipuram,Trichnapalli, Nagpattam, Rameshwaram and Tiravandrum.
- On his way back from Lanka he reached Pakpattan and spent some time in Panar, Bidar, Ujjain, Ajmer, Mathura, Rewari, Hissar and Takhatupur
- His finally reached Sulatanpur via Dipalpur from Pakpattan
