Let me first reiterate how I believe that the old Marwadi businessmen of Calcutta have made the city grow, just like the British. Kolkata was once the pride of the empire and one of the most bustling cities between Aden and Singapore, supposedly second only to London in the British empire. The people of Marwad, as people from almost all over India and Asia (you will find old Chinese, Armenian and Jewish families in Kolkata) came over here and contributed in great measure to the growth of the city.
