Answer

THE MAIN POSTULATES OF BOHR'S ATOMIC THEORY ARE: 1. The electrons revolving around the nucleus are confined to certain fixed orbits called shells or energy levels ,each of which is associated with a fixed amount of energy. ... While it is revolving around the nucleus in an orbit, an electron neither loses not gains energy.

Answer:

The basic postulates of Bohr's theory of atomic spectra:

1. The electrons revolve round the nucleus only in certain selected circular paths called orbits.

2. Energy of an electron in one of its allowed orbits is fixed. As long as an electron remains in one of its allowed orbit, it can not absorb or radiate energy.

3. Only those orbits are permitted in which angular momentum of the electron is a whole number multiple of h/2πh/2πh/2π, where h is the Planck ‘s constant.

4. If an electron jumps from lower energy level to a higher energy level, it absorbs a definite amount of energy and If an electron jumps form higher energy level to a lower energy level, it radiates a definite amount of energy.

5. Spectrum of light emitted from an electron is a "line spectrum".
