Chlorophyll is responsible for the green color in plant  leaves and it is due to the process that keeps the plant green is Photoreception (Photoreceptor). Plants require water, air, sunlight and good soil as essentials for its growth.

EXPLANATION:

Chlorophyll is a pigment, that is present in leaves and the green color in it is due to the absorption of wavelengths of blue and red color from the sun and reflects the green wavelength.

Thus making plants look greener and it is known as photoreception mechanism. When the plants get enough water, air and sunlight it can prepare its own food by the process called as Photosynthesis and thus making the plant grow.
