The two persons who inspired me the most are Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and Dr. Kalpana Chawla.
They are inspirational for me because they became what they are today, only because of their hard work, determination, and dedication towards their goals. They knew what they want and they fought against all odds to achieve their dreams. They never let their dreams to die.
Dr. Abdul Kalam born in a small village, Rameswaram of Tamil Nadu, where education facilities were not so good. Also, his family was not financially well-off. As a young boy, he had to sell newspapers in order to add to the family’s meager income. But, later, this young boy who sold newspapers for living become one of the greatest scientists of India. He gave new dimensions to the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). For the same, he has been popularly tagged as the “Missile Man of India”.
Kalpana Chawla is the first Indian origin woman to go to space. She was born in a small city Karnal in Haryana. In spite of this, her aim, her goals, her dreams were big. She was interested in Aeronautical Engineering. When she went to college, her principal asked her to change the branch as there was no girl in that class and principal thought, she may face some difficulties in her projects, assignments, etc. But, she was firmed for her decision of Aeronautical Engineering. She proved her decision right by topping in her class. Later she went to the USA for her master degree in Aerospace engineering. Initially, her father did not agree with her decision but she convinces him. By crossing all hurdles of Indian society, she reached to the USA and later joined NASA. In 1997, the first time she goes to space.
This journey, from a small city of Haryana to space, it was not easy for a girl at that time. It was her childhood dream to fly. And with her sincere efforts, she achieved it, in spite of many hurdles.
Life of Abdul Kalam and Kalapana Chawla show us that anybody irrespective of financial, social or region status can fulfill his/her dreams. They keep on inspiring me to not to leave my dreams but achieve them with will power and with iron determination. They always inspired me to do something good for my society and my country. Magnitude may not be the same, but as much as I can, I will do.
