Himalayan rivers like the Ganga, Brahmaputra and the Indus originate from Himalayan glaciers or lakes. They flow though the northern plains of the Indian subcontinent into the ocean. Such rivers are perennial rivers. It is due to such rivers that the northern plains are some of the most region on earth.
