The father in law and a close companion of the Islamic Prophet Muhammad Abu Bakr was also first of the Rashidun Caliphs. Initially a wealthy and esteemed merchant, Abu Bakr was later converted to Islam & contributed extensively to the mission of Muhammad. His accompanied Prophet Muhammed on his journey to Medina, and he engaged in various military challenges such as Badr and Uhud war.
Explanation:
- When Abu Bakr went to Yemen for a business trip to Yemen and hadretuned back he was told by his friends that Prophet Muhammad had proclaimed himself God's Prophet/Messenger and founded a new religion & faith -Islam. Abu Bakr was the childhood friend of the Prophet and the first man to embrace Islam. He immediately proclaimed the prophet's prophethood, and did not fail to trust the prophet as he told people of his quest and emergence at night.
- Muhammad directed Muslims in 622 to move to Medina at the behest of the Muslims of Medina. Abu Bakr had accompanied Muhammad to Medina. Muhammad had opted to build a mosque in Medina and a land was selected for this purpose which was paid by Abu Bakr The Muslims, as well as Abu Bakr, built the "Al-Masjid al-Nabawi mosque" on the site. Abu Bakr purchased another house near Muhammad's after Abu Bakr 's family had arrived in Medina. Early in 623, Muhammad married Aisha, Abu bakr's daughter whom Muhammed was earlier engaged to; this strengthened the relations between Abu Bakr and Muhammad further. Abu Bakr guided &prompted some citizens to embrace Islam. He left for Abyssinia, but came back when his friend saved him. He took part in all the big battles and gave his riches in Tabuk 's war. He was a testament to the Hudaibiyah Treaty.
- The recognition of Abu Bakr proved to be a landmark in the role of Muhammad. Slavery in Mecca was popular, with many slaves adopting Islam. If an ordinary free man embraced Islam, he will love defending his family amid the opposition. There was little safety for slaves, however, and they were often abused. Abu Bakr felt sorry for the captives, and he bought and then sold the captives.
- The first battle between the Muslims & the Quraysh of Makkah, known as the "Battle of Badr", took place in 624 & did not fight, rather it served as one of the guards of the "Tent of Muhammad". In 625, Abdul Rahman, his son, still a non-Muslim, fought at the Quraysh side & challenged Abu Bakr to take part in battle in Uhud, wherein the majority of the Moslems were driven out and he himself was injured. Abu Bakr took on the challenge, but Muhammad stopped it.
- In 627, he was involved in the Trench war and even in the Banu Qurayza attack. Muhammad divided the tomb into several sectors in "Battle of the Trench" & a contingent was dispatched to guard each section. One of these quarters was under Abu Bakr 's command. The enemy often assaulted, all repelled, in an effort to cross the gap. To remember this incident a mosque was built at the spot where Abu Bakr repelled the claims of the enemy, later renamed Masjid-i-Siddiq.
- In 631 AD Muhammad sent from Medina 300 Muslims to the Hajj according to the modern Muslim style, naming Abu Bakr as head of the delegation. The next day after Abu Bakr & his party left for the "Hajj", the Quran 's ninth chapter "a new revelation: Surah Tawbah" was revealed to Muhammad. There someone proposed to Muhammad when it came to this discovery that it be sent to Abu Bakr and Ali was sent to convey this message. Once Ali reached the Hajj, he conveyed the same to Abu Bakr. Then, Abu Bakr presided over the Hajj ceremony at Mecca and Ali had read the proclamation on Muhammad's behalf. From that day the proclamation was made a new age dawned, and in Arabia it was only Islam that was to be supreme.
- During the last illness of Muhammed Prophet, Aby Bakr led the prayers. When the Prophet died several disciples declined to believe it, and Abu Bakr came to tell them that Muhammad ( pbuh) had died but God was alive and would never die.. Shortly after he was made a caliph and is one of ten divine promises.
- During his reign, he surmounted a number of rebellions known as the Ridda Wars, which permitted the rule of the Muslim state to be strengthened and extended across the Arabian Peninsula. The first attacks against the neighbouring Byzantine & Sassanian realms led to the invasion of the Muslims of Persia and the Levant in the following years. .
