acc to octet rule every atom tries to have an octet in its outermost shell so as to aqiure stability exept hydron which campletes its duplet for stability

Answer:

This rule was proposed by Lewis and Kossel. According to this rule , atoms undergo chemical reaction in order to attain octect of electrons in the valance shell or atoms containing 8 electrons in their valance shell.

Limitations:

a) Incomplete octect

    Eg:BeCl2,BF2

b) Molecues containing odd numbers of electrons

    Eg: NO, NO2

c) Expanded octect

    Eg: PCl5, SF6
