hyy....The Salt Satyagraha was a campaign of non-violent protest against the British salt tax in colonial India which began with the Salt March to Dandi on March 12, 1930. It was the first act of organized opposition to British rule after Purna Swaraj, the Declaration of Independence by the Indian National Congress. Mahatma Gandhi led the Dandi march from Sabarmati Ashram to Dandi, Gujarat to make salt, with growing numbers of Indians joining him along the way. When Gandhi broke the salt laws in Dandi at the conclusion of the march on April 6th, 1930, it sparked large scale acts of civil disobedience against the British Raj salt laws by millions of Indians ...

Here I am giving a brief introduction and then would describe briefly the Salt March.
(A). Introduction- The British govt had the monopoly over the production of salt.
Gandhiji sent a letter to Viceroy Irwin stating 11 demands. The most important conserning the common people was abolition of salt tax.
Irwin was unwilling to accept the demands. So Gandhiji started his Salt March.
(B). Salt March (Dandi March) 11 March 1930.
1. Mahatama Gandhi beganbSalt March on 11 March,1930 with 78 of his trusted volunteers
2. The March was over 240 miles from Gandhi's Aashram in Sabarmati to the Gujarat coastal town Dandi.
3. On 6th April 1930, he reached Dandi and ceremonially violated the law by manufacturing salt by boiling sea water.
4. This marked the beginning of the Civil Disobedience Movement (in Hindi-savinaya awagya andolan)
5. At many places people themselves violated the law by manufacturing salt to show their solidarity with Gandhiji and the Movement.
