Later Robert brown discovered the nucleus.
Antony von leewon hooke observed the living cells.
Schleiden and Schwann proposed the modern cell theory. It states that all living organisms are made up of cells and new cells are formed from pre existing cells.

Robert Hooke discovered cell. He observed cell wall in the bark of the cells. It occurred in 1665 and he observed it in a primitive microscope. He observed that it looked similar to cellula or small rooms which monks inhabited, thus deriving the name cells. But what Hooke actually saw was the dead cell walls of plant cells.
