In-situ conservation: This method helps in the conservation of biodiversity within the natural habitat of the animals and plants by creating protected areas such as national parks and wildlife sanctuaries.
Ex-situ conservation: This method refers to the conservation of biodiversity in the areas outside their natural habitat such as zoos and botanical gardens.
Answer:
Threats to biodiversity
A major portion of the land needed for growth of cities comes from cutting down forests. Cutting down forests and using land for other purposes is called deforestation.
Overgrazing by cattle, sheep horses is another cause of deforestation. Overgrazing not only destroys grasslands but also trees in forests. The young trees get eaten or killed by trampling. The lower leaves are eaten up and the roots and trunks are injured.
Deforestation also occurs due to natural causes such as drought, forest fires, tsunamis, diseases and attack by insects and pests.
Conservation:
Plant Harvesting
Afforestation or Reforestation
Protection from forest fires
Protection from insects and pests
Protection from overgrazing
Hope it helps!
