✔ Plastic is a synthetic material made from synthetic or semi-synthetic organic compounds. They are organic polymers.

✔The usage of plastics can be reduced by:

•Using reusable bags instead of plastic bags.

•Stopping buying and usage of plastic things like bottles, straws, plastic bags, etc.

•Reusing containers to store things instead of using plastic bags.

•Using aluminum foils to cover food instead of plastic bags, etc.

•By reducing, reusing and recycling.

✔There will, maybe, some difficulty faced by us in the beginning as currently we are habituated of using plastic. But it will be very beneficial for us as well as our environment. Plastic is a non-biodegradable product, so if there won't be any plastic, our environment would be protected. Plastic consumption causes the death of many organisms, so if there is no plastic, there won't be any harm to other organisms too.

✔Advantages:

They are nad conductors of heat and electricity.

They are lightweight and easy to handle.

They are water resistant and strong.

They do not corrode or rust.

✔Disadvantages:

Plastics are a threat for our environment.

They do not degrade easily.

Plastics dumped in water bodies are harmful for aquatic organisms.

Plastic ditched on roadsides cause the death of many living organisms.

When plastic is burnt, it produces toxic gases.

It is made up of some harmful chemicals which, when exposed to the environment, harm our surroundings.

✔There are many new inventions in the world in everything. There are many innovations related to plastics. For example different kinds of amazing plastic packings are there, plastic appliances are there, etc.

✔Well, it's good that I've not experienced anything like that but there are many people in this world who have suffered and who suffer from many bad experiences. But the science and technology field is coming up with different ideas to reduce plastic. For example the recent discovery is that a microorganism has been invented which can decompose or which can eat plastics.

And many places have also banned the use of plastic.

Plastic is a synthetic polymer that can be molded into any solid shape. A most common thing of present time I would say.From poly bag of ₹1 to machinery of 10000, plastic is everywhere.

There are commonly two types of plastics :-

1) $\bf{Thermoplastic}$- These are those plastic which can be molded are remolded again.

2) $\bf{Thermosetting \:plastic \:or\: thermosetts:}$- These are those plastic that once molded cannot be remolded again. These are generally dull in color.

$<b> How can we reduce usage of plastics</b>$

Though plastic is the most used material in the present time,but as environmentalists say that this polymer causes harm , so, Usage of plastic can be reduced to some extent through 3 r's of environment. These are respectively,

Reduce :- Reducing the consumption of plastic. This can be done through using substitute of plastic . For example- carry bags can be made up of jute or paper instead of plastics.This can help to some extent.

Reuse : - Reuse means to using the same thing again. We know plastic can not be decomposed so,why not using it again. This could be done by using the plastic containers in the kitchen. I will call this the best method to help reduce the usage of plastic. But some people avoid reusing things just to satisfy their vanity. There is nothing bad in reusing your own things.

Recycling:- Recycling means to change a thing into other usable form in industries. For example- Plastic can be moulded and remolded. So, once used plastic can be remolded into other usable form.

These were some ways by which we can reduce the usage of plastic.

$<b> What changes I think that will come in life after I stop using plastic </b>$

We live in a modern world, a busy world, I would say. People do not have spare time to just to have some family conversations. So, how can we expect them to waste their times in doing the same thing which can be done in 2 minutes.

The meaning is simple. Not using plastic means no development. Consider the following example;

Think if I stop using plastic, I have to stop using mixer whose body is made up of plastic. Ultimately, I have been left with no choice except grinding spices with stone grinder. Using the stone grinder is same as going down the century in 1950s.That is ultimately a wastage of time and slow development.

Today, plastic is the capturer of the world. From my day to night, almost everything is plastic. My toothbrush, my lunchbox, pencil box, pen, bottle, everything.

Electric wires are made up of plastic, no electric wire means no electricity. No electricity means no development.


In stop using plastic, we should not only consider plastic carry bags, but other plastic articles that make our life easier.

$<b>Merits and Demerits</b>$

Merits :- Although, I have already said in the previous part ,but then too I will state here.

Plastic is light weight and easy to store. It is a good insulator.

Plastic has made our life very convinient. Imagine a day, I said a day without plastic. I would rather ask myself to lock in a jail ;) . Though many environmentalists say that plastic is harmful, it is causing pollution, but we must think that what's in it that makes it pollute the environment. No, plastic isn't polluting the environment directly. The problem arises when it is left to decompose as it can't be decomposed easily . So, the problem isn't the plastic, problem is the method of decomposing the plastic. Problem is we, humans.

But, as we know, "Human mind is the most mischievous thing in the world", if it had found so - called problem, it will definitely find the solution.

Demerits:-

✔It pollutes the air when burnt as it produce toxic gases.

✔It pollutes the soil when dumped on ground.

✔It causes water pollution when dumped into river . Evident from the present scenerio of River Ganga .

✔ Fishes are eating poly bags thinking them jelly fishes. Thus it endangers the aquatic life.

$<b> Something new in the discovery of plastic or something new in this </b>$

Nothing in this world remains stable. It keeps changing with the changing time . In my opinion, yeah! something new can be done. I ain't saying it like that!

You would be amazed to know that Sweden imports the waste from other countries to generate electricity. This waste has plastic too!

So, why can't we Indian do the same . But the problem is same. We only want shortcuts. We are least bothered about environment.

But lets hope for the best !

There is nothing sort of incident that I remember I had with plastic. If it happens in near future, I'll definitely tell you :) .
