Use and Utilisation of Surface Water and Ground water:

1. After raining, the water remains on surface of ground in lakes, ponds and rivers and is called surface water. This can be used for irrigation purposes as it is available in bulk quantities. It can also be used for Washing clothes and other domestic and industrial activities.

2. A part of run off water sinks in the ground( earth's crust) and is called ground water. This can be extracted through wells, tube wells or borewells dug deep into the ground. This water is very pure and is fit for drinking purposes besides other domestic and industrial uses.
