In order to overcome difference in the colligative properties and molecular mass when dissociation or association of solute takes place Vant Hoff introduced a factor (i) which is called as vant hoff's factor .After multiplying each colligative property by vant Hoff's factor the observed molecular mass becomes equal to normal molecular mass and observed colligative property becomes equal to normal colligative property.
The different colligative properties are given as :-
∆Tb =i Kb ×m
∆Tf = i Kf × m
π = i CRT
