Both Viriods and Prions are infectious. These have been clearly identified in plant cells and the animals respectively.

Viroids are tiny bits of nucleic acid without a protein coat. They have been clearly identified in plant cells only, where they replicate with the help of host cell enzymes. They are infectious pathogens and cause plant diseases.

Prions are tiny protein particles without nucleic acid. They are infectious particles that cause neurodegenerative diseases such as kuru in humans and scrapie in sheep

Viroids
____________________________________________________________

Viroids are now considered as the most potent pathogenic agents, which cause diseases that can devastate certain crop plants and cause serious economic problems, at least some parts of the world.  More than 25 to 30 different viroids, with numerous variants in each type, have been identified. Viroids are common plant pathogens which cause serious economic problems.

Prions
____________________________________________________________

A prion is an infectious agent composed of protein in a misfolded form. This is the central idea of the Prion Hypothesis, which remains debated. This is in contrast to all other known infectious agents (virus/bacteria/fungus/parasite) which mustcontain nucleic acids (either DNA, RNA, or both)
