For example, they recycle nutrients, purify water, attenuate floods, recharge ground water and provide habitats for wildlife.Aquatic ecosystems are also used for human recreation, and are very important to the tourismindustry, especially in coastal regions.
Food chain and food web-
A food web consists of many food chains.
A food chain only follows just one path as animals find food. 
eg: A hawk eats a snake, which has eaten a frog, which has eaten a grasshopper, which has eaten grass.
A food web shows the many different paths plants and animals are connected. 
eg: A hawk might also eat a mouse, a squirrel, a frog or some other animal. The snake may eat a beetle, a caterpillar, or some other animal. And so on for all the other animals in the food chain.
A food web is several food chains connected together.

The basic level or the starting of both the ecosystem starts from the producers and and then comes the primary consumers, secondary consumers, tertiary consumers et cetera.

Small fishes, turtles, shark, whale, shrimps, crabs, sea horse are some of the components of the water ecosystem.

The water animals are interdependent on each other and for one fish there is more than one food source and same goes for other water animals too.
