Let's take two Liquids Oil and Water to separate immiscible liquids we use a separating funnel.

Oil being lighter forms the upper layer

Water being heavier settles down

THE MISTURE IS ALLOWED TO STAND STILL AND AFTER SOME WHILE WE GET TWO LAYERS OF LIQUIDS WHICH ARE POURED IN TWO DIFFERENT BEAKERS
