take a battery and connect it with two terminals of a copper and connect it to bulb ,as we switch on the current ,the bulb starts glowing

then non metals are mostly gaseous and solid ,and they are insulators except graphite ( form a carbon)

if we connect bulb to the metal wire and connect wire's end through the battery then, the bulb will glow . which shows that metal is good conductor of heat and electricity. Now if we connect bulb through a wooden scale, then bulb will not glow So ,this shows it is bad conductor of heat and electricity.
