there is a simple activity to prove whether the substance is basic or not....
we do know about the litmus papers right? take a soap solution and turmeric solution in two different containers and dip the litmus paper into the soap solution and check the change in colour...and as well as dip it in the turmeric solution and then note the differnce between the both changes...the you will find the soap solution changes its colour into blue...it means that soap solution is basic in nature..
