Answer:

Explanation:

chlorophyll is important for the photosynthesis :-

steps :

1) De-starch the leaves of a plotted plant by keeping it in a dark room for three days so that all the starch get used up

2) take out the plant and keep it in bright sunlight for 3 or 4 days

3) pluck the leaf and mark the green and non green area by placing a rice paper on it

4) put the leaf in boiling water for 5-10 minutes and then immerse it in alcohol heated with the help of water bath

5) pour dilute iodine solution over the colorless leaf and observe the change in the color of the leaf

observation- the part of the leaf is marked as green area turn bluish black on adding iodine solution showing the presence of starch in it whereas the part of the leaf that is marked as non green area remain yellowish due to absence of starch

⚘To Show that Chlorophyll is necessary for Photosynthesis⚘.

\large{\underline{\underline{\mathbf{Requirements\::-}}}}Variegated leaf (with some green and white or yellow patches) of coleus, Money Plant or Crotons. Other requirements are same as for starch test.

\large{\underline{\underline{\mathbf{Methods\::-}}}}

  • Destarch the potted plant as discussed Above.
  • Keep the plant in sunlight for 6-8 Hrs.
  • Do the starch test on a variegated leaf.

\large{\underline{\underline{\mathbf{Observation\::-}}}}

Only green patches of variegated leaf take on blue-black colour. Other Parts remain unchanged.

\large{\underline{\underline{\mathbf{Conclusion\::-}}}}

PHOTOSYNTHESIS TAKES PLACE ONLY IN CHLOROPHYLL-CONTAINING PATCHES OF LEAF.
