Answer:

This experiment is as follows

Explanation:

Take a healthy plant.

Tie a black piece of cloth to one leaf.

Pluck the leaf after 2 - 3 days.

Boil it in water.

Then boil it in alcohol in water bath

This will result in discolouration of the leaf.

Now, pour iodine over the part which is white. (it doesn't contain starch)

We'll see that the part doesn't change colour.

Now pour iodine solution on the partwhich was not covered.

We'll see that The part turn blue black for starch was present.

Explanation:

Aim:- To show that leaf has starch in it.

Apparatus & Ingredients :-:A leaf which is well exposed to the sunlight, methylate spirit, iodine solution, beaker, water, bunsen burner, tripod stand, glass slide.

Procedure:- Arrange a tripod stand with bunsen burner and beaker with water & methylated spirit.

Then place the leaf which is well exposed to sunlight in the beaker containing liquids. Boil it for sometime until the leaf turns pale white color.

Then take the leaf out of beaker and place it on a glass slide carefully, then add 2 to 3 drops of iodine solution on the leaf.

If the leaf turns into bluish black color then we can say that the leaf is containing starch in it. If it doesn't change color there is no starch in it.
