Out a lighted incense sticks and place it in a corner of ur class.u will observe that the after standing far at another corner of class u can smell the fragrance .

Activity : - To demonstrate that the particles of matter are continuously moving :
Procedure :-
i) Put a unlit incense stick in a corner of your class.
ii) Record your observation
iii) Now light the incense stick.
iv) Record your observation.
Observation :-
When the incense stick is unlit, the temperature is low and the kinetic energy of the particles is also low. Hence they do not mix with the particles of air rapidly. that is why we have to go near the incense stick to get its smell. But when the incense stick is lit, the temperature rises and hence the kinetic energy of the incense stick particle also increases.The particles of incense stick now moves rapidly and thus intermix with the particles of air. That is why we get smell of incense stick even when we are at an distance.
Conclusion :-
The particles of matter are moving continuously. As the temperature increases, their kinetic energy increases and hence they move faster.
