You can take a paragraph, leave gaps in between sentences and ask them to fill up.  If it is a story, then, it will become an interesting activity. 

You can teach them first by filling up verbs and adjectives.   This will be easy and interesting for a student.  This can be done as a first step in teaching writing activity.
