Property of producing sounds is called sonority

Explanation:

  • The materials that produce sound are called sonorous materials. Most metals are considered to be sonorous. Sound is produced upon dropping or hitting with another object. Exceptions to this will be mercury which is a metal but does not produce sound.
  • Activity can be performed wherein the object in question may be dropped on the floor or on a hard surface and observations can be recorded.
  • One may notice that some objects produce sound as compared to others that do not.
  • Therefore property of sonority can be tested.
