Write an algebraic expression for each item. Use X for the variable.
1.a number added to 15

a. 15 + x = b. 12 + x = c.xy + 15 =

2. thrice the number subtracted from 25

a.25 - 3x= b. 25 - 3x = c.0.3 -25x=

3. 5 more than twice a number

a.5* x = b.2x + 5 = c. 2 + 5x =

4.8 less than 5 times the number 8

a. 8x-5 = b.5x -8 = c.x * 5 + 8 =

5. a number times the sum of the number and 4

a x(x+ 4) b.x*4 c.x 4*X

Answer 1) :-

→ a number added to 15

Let the number is x .

so,

→ (x + 15) = (15 + x) (a) (Ans.)

Answer 2) :-

→ thrice the number subtracted from 25

Let the number is x .

so,

→ Thrice of x is subtracted from 25 = (25 - 3x) (a) (Ans.)

Answer 3) :-

→ 5 more than twice a number .

Let the number is x .

so,

→ 5 more than twice of x = (2x + 5) (b) (Ans.)

Answer 4) :-

→ 8 less than 5 times the number

Let the number is x .

so,

(5x - 8) (b) (Ans.)

Answer 5) :-

→ a number times the sum of the number and 4

Let the number is x .

so,

x(x + 4) (a) (Ans.)
