Answer:
Republic day is celebrated because this day our constitution were formed. Republic Day has been celebrated every year in India on January 26, since 1950 to honour the date on which the Constitution of India came into effect. We are under the rules of british for about 200 years, and we became independent from the rule of the British Raj following the Indian independence movement. On this 26th january we celebrate our 71th of republic day. Dr.B.R.Ambedkar was one who wrote our constitution. So everyone should have to respect this day and Say heart to heart Jai Hind.

A very hearty good morning to one and all present here. Today in this auspicious and chilly morning, I have got a golden opportunity to present my wishings and a short speech on the topic 'Republic Day'.
First of all I would like to ask you all, that what does Republic Day mean ? Is it the day when we get our freedom ? Or is it the day when we begin enjoying our rights ? Well, all these views are not exactly correct. Republic means getting freedom and following the constitution which is made for the country. Although, every country has different days of celebration of Republic Day for their country but in India we celebrate it on 26 January. India's first Republic Day was celebrated on the same day in 1950. This marked the adoption of India's newly made constitution which was made after a lot efforts of the constituent assembly.
If we look back at our Indian History, then we see that 26 January was once declared as the day of 'Purna Swaraj' which means complete Independence . I have a question to ask you all. Do we all really follow our constitution ? Let's recall every moment of our life. We used to remain silent when we see people throwing garbage in public area. Don't you think, its our duty to stop them from doing so ? Let's not remain indulged in what happened during our past. From now, let us make it a pledge for us to perform our duties for nation honestly and raise our voice of concern.
Since its Republic Day, the most happy people who remain on this day are children. They get to witness an amazing parade and flag hoisting. At some places, there are many cultural programs held in this regards on this day. It really becomes a memorable moment when we see mamy different cultures mixing up together depicting 'Unity in Diversity'.
At last I would like to wind up with the words of Jawaharlal Nehru. He once said, "India is not made up of different states instead it is made up of different people. "
Isn't this quote right ? Of course it is. It is the day to remember who fought for our freedom and who are still fighting for our protection at borders. Let's pray for their health and make people of other nations hear our National Anthem as one voice of the nation. Happy Republic Day.
Thank you and have a nice day ahead.
