Jalebis Class 8 short Summary in English:-
The writer of this story Ahmed Nadeem Qasmi recalls his childhood days when he was a student of class 5th. at a government school, Kambelpur. His name was Munna.
Once he brought four rupee coins to pay school fee. His teacher Master Ghulam Mohammed was on leave that day and it it would be collected the next day. So he didn’t pay the school fees on the day he brought money.
The coins in his pocket were well, but when he came out from the school the coins in his pocket started jingling and urged him to buy hot and fresh jalebis. They were misguiding him to buy jalebis.
But, the boy knew well that money was for paying school fees. He also knew the harsh nature of master Ghulam Mohammed and his punishment. So he didn’t take the coin’s advice.
Then the oldest coin told him that they were telling him for his own good. He can pay his fee next day with his scholarship money. So he should buy jalebis.
But, the boy didn’t follow his advice because he belongs to a family of repute. He was a promising student and could not eat jalebis in the market.
When he reached home, he could not suppress his temptation for fresh juicy jalebis. He rushed out to the shop of halwai and bought jalebis.
He got a lot of jalebis for one rupee. He distributed the remaining jalebis among the children and the beggars. He again bought jalebis for his rest rupees and distributed all jalebis like a Governor Sahib who would distribute rice among poor.
After eating jalebis he washed his mouth and came back to home. At home, he was afraid that one or two jalebis would come out with a burp and his parents would know about this.
Children have the capacity to eat and digest a lot of things. He digested all jalebis and went to school.
He planned to pay the fees next day when he would get his scholarship money.
When it is time to pay the fees, he took the bag under his arm and slips out of the school. He reached at the railway track. For the first time he had to be absent from school in his life.
He requested to God and promised to recite the entire namaz. He said that if he had known about the delay in scholarship he would not spent his money on buying jalebis.
He offers to pay a game with Allah Miyan that he would go upto the signal, touch it and come back. And during this, God should put four rupees under a big rock.
But, he did not get four coins by playing the game. when he lifted the rock he saw a worm, instead of coins.
When he reached class 8 he realized that he would not have learnt a lesson to do no wrong. He would be like a bird and learnt no skill, if God had granted his wish that day
