First, you need to get on the team. Most likely you’ll need to get permission from your legal guardians, of course. Unless you’re the Boy-Who-Lived, however, you’ll have to wait until you’re at least Second Year, though usually House Teams don’t pick Second Years unless they are very good or bribe the House (see the Malfoy family for this). You’ll have to be relatively good at Quidditch, otherwise you’ll never make the team in the first place. Once you’re in the team, the next step is to get your members to like you. If you’re in Hufflepuff, this is fairly easy. The other Houses are a little harder. I’m not here to teach you how to get people to like you, though (Note: Sweets may help). After this, you’ll want to make sure you’ve been on the team for quite a few years. You need experience, after all! Finally, you can write your letter. Make it nice and formal, use your best quill, all that jazz. Make sure you’re writing to either the Headmaster (this is a rarity) or, preferably, your Head of your House.
