In my opinion, it would be better to volunteer with an environmental group in your community since this provides more chances of learning rather than in a national group.

Explanation:

• In a national group, the number of people is more hence this makes it difficult for a person to experience every opportunity of volunteering to its fullest while the number of people in a community group is usually less providing more chances to exhibit your abilities and improving them.  

• Such experience brings many positive effects on the minds of the volunteer. It improves their social skills, teaches them resilience, determination, patience, etc.
