Answer:
Should today’s teenager be given more freedom?
Freedom is a precious treasure which can be maintained or kept safe only if we know how to protect it. Everyone has the right to freedom, but very few people have the wisdom to preserve it.
Teenagers also love freedom; but they lack the wisdom to rightly use it for their benefit and welfare. Our teenagers are already enjoying immense freedom; and it has been observed that only a very small fraction out of them are using it rightly and judiciously. The freedom they have they are just wasting it in idle and trivial activities.
No fixed time for studies, no self-control in using smartphones, TV, computer, etc. eating junk food, no lending a helping hand to parents at home in doing the chores, no getting up early, no burning the midnight oil. All they want is fun, enjoyment, and pleasure. Does freedom mean this? If they continue living in this pseudo freedom, how will they secure a career? How will they be successful?
The truth is teenagers don’t have the wisdom to value their freedom. They are like a foolish man who has diamonds, but throws them into a lake considering them worthless pieces of crystal.
The best thing we can give teenagers is the understanding and wisdom to optimally use their freedom. They should be taught how to utilize their freedom in creative, constructive, and productive activities.
So in conclusion, it can be said teenagers should be given more freedom only after teaching them how to use it purposefully.
