The digital India initiative coupled with the ultra-cheap mobile data rates and high internet penetration has done wonders for digital startups with some of the digital startups in India having a valuation exceeding 10 billion dollars. All the sectors of the economy from medical to FMCG have been affected by this but the traditional banking sector still seems to not be fully enjoying the benefits of the digital revolution.

The banking sector has digitalised rapidly in the past few years with the introduction of UPI but the digital revolution that was expected is still underwhelming. Even now people have to go physically to the banks to open their accounts and get loan approvals and the digital banking apps made by most banks are lagging in user experience and are a hassle to use.

I hope that a new age startup simplifying the banking process in the country comes up and removes all the hurdles to a simplified banking experience for this purpose new technologies such as blockchain can also be used.
