Wars are one of those situations in which people tend to suffer for decades to come. The civil war was a situation which led to socio-cultural and economic issues. There was an intermittent insurgency which took place against the government by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam. Their aim was to fight to create an independent Tamil state.
For over 25 years, the war caused many hardships for the people living there, the environment over there and the economy of the country, estimatedly killing from 80,000–100,000.
In 2013, the deaths amounted to around 40,000 due to the after effects of this war.
The economy of the country got destroyed because of this event taking place. The money got spent into recovery and covering all collateral damage of destroyed infrastruture and all the medical facilities over there. The cutural heritage present over there got destroyed and had to get recovered.
