IMPORTANCE OF COMMUNICATION SKILLS
I know that many of you reading this, may not agree with me and may not be convinced but I'm sure beyond a shadow of doubt, that eventually all your opinions will definitely change and you people will be compelled to ponder over your thoughts. Yes, what I believe is that, soft skills or communication skills is a subject, which is equally important as Mathematics, English, Science or any other subject. Soft skills are those skills which an educated person expects from the other educated person. The way you walk, talk, sit, stand, eat, drink, etc. all comes under soft skills and communication skills. In simple terms it's the way you carry yourself around Soft skills also include your:
✪Teamwork
✪Interpersonal skills
✪ Leadership qualities
✪Common sense
✪Good sense of humour
✪ Good manners and etiquettes
✪ Excellent Communication Skills
Suppose, there's a daily prayer service for your class. How many of you will actively participate in that? How many of you will really have the confidence, guts and personality to stand on the stage, face a huge crowd, a lot of criticism and speak what you are supposed to?
I think a very few of you will be able to do that. That is the result of lack of good communication skills. I believe that soft skills and communication skills have a great importance in one's life as they make the student more learned, more smart and most importantly, more confident. I'd say, what a Carmelite wants is great silence, attention and a huge round of applause from the crowd when she stands on a dais and speaks. She is not someone amongst the crowd but rather someone who is the reason for the crowd Soft skills and communication skills help us to groom ourselves in a much better way. Soft skills and communication skills had great relevance in today's world. Now a days during presentations in schools and later in campus drives which take place in colleges, the student even after being really good with their technical skills, flunk in the campus recruitments; reason being their poor soft skills and communication skills. 'I he big business houses not only look for your technical skills but equallyjudge you for your personality, confidence, attitude and the way you carry yourself.
For instance, when someone comes to your class to make an announcement, and speaks very fluently with all the best possible accent, pronunciation and style, you may criticize her badly, but don't you feel in your hearts, that if I could speak that way, it would have been fabulous? Girls, what you only need to do is groom your personalities by working hard on your soft skills and communication skills. You need to feel that competition of being the best speaker, best personality, the most confident girl and the most sincere and mature student.
The confidence, srnartness, personality and attitude, that comes on communication skills and soft skills can work wonders. This can give you a unique and different identity. There are many examples we have and the best inspiration we can take is from our language trainers in our school itself. In this contemporary world, this subject is not taken very seriously in many institutions; but our school is providing us with this opportunity to learn this subject along us with so many seasoned and highly educated teachers for the subject.
All we need to do is, to grab this chance and utilize to its best and to our best. The command over your language and personality is what makes you shine in the public. As all of you might have heard that nothing is interesting, if you are not interested. Believe me if you are really interested and sincere towards the subject, it can work wonders for you. So eventually I believe that if I can, then definitely everyone can.
