                      Increasing Crime Rate: Some Solutions

The recent spurt in the crime rate in the nation has put everyone pondering as to what will happen in future. Case of murder, abduction, rape, dowry death, juvenile crimes, and fatal accidents have skyrocketed.

According to the NCRB data, the total crimes on register were 2.97 million while the crime rate figured to be 379 crimes per lakh population. The year 2018 has witnessed some of the most horrific cases of crime. The rape and murder incident of Kathua just petrified the entire nation. Similarly, the Unnao incident also sent shivers up everyone’s spine.

According to Global Peace Index, India is the fourth most dangerous country for women. The Government and people of the country really need to introduce stricter punitive laws to curb crime. The Union Cabinet has taken a positive step towards curbing the increasing crime against girls and women. It approved an ordinance to allow courts to award death penalty to those found guilty of rape of  minor girls.

The need of the hour is to sensitize people of the nation about the issue and seek their cooperation in curbing the increasing crime. Parents, schools, colleges, NGOs, and the Government should make strategies to create a safe and crime-free environment in the nation.

Today, the crime rate is a menace that each country faces. It is said that society has a direct influence on making criminals. The government imposed many laws to reduce the crime rate to make the world a better place to live in, but the majority did not find expected results. In this essay, I would like to discuss some of the reasons why people committing crimes and what measures the government could take to prevent it.

First and foremost reason is unemployment and poverty. Every one of us should have a job to reach our goals and fulfil our life. Population explosion also made difficulties to find jobs for each individual. The jobless person may find it hard to make both ends meet and develop frustration among themselves. This at last end up into antisocial or criminal activities where they get easy money.

Another main reason is broken families or single parenthood. here children will not get any attention neither from the family nor from the society; feels alone and makes them engage in crimes. For instance, Children those have unpleasant past experiences would be rebellious to society. Media like the internet, porn movies and detective novels also play a tangible role in making them worse.

Population control is a major step to be implemented to abolish criminalities, starting small scale industries to provide a job for the young graduates may also cut short the unemployment. Last but not least implementing and enacting stringent laws and counselling also can suppress crime to a certain level.

To put it in a nutshell, today's children are tomorrows law-abiding citizens. Everything should start from the root level. Government and society are equally responsible to make them perfect and to avoid crimes.
