With an increasing influx of western and other foreign tourists, the youth of North-East have taken a leaning towards the western culture. They find this trendy and easy to follow, compared to values, ideas, traditions, practices and culture of their homeland. While taking positive aspects of other culture is a healthy trend, that is not the case with most youth from the North-East.
High rate of unemployment and availability of easy money from different sources have given them access to intoxicants. Divorces and abortions have become very common and family values are not followed.
Our country has a unique identity because of its diverse culture and traditions. No two parts of India are the same. There is a unique distinction, even between two neighbouring states. The unhealthy impact of westernisation is slowly eroding into this identity.
Westernization has gently affected and destroys our traditions, customs and culture.
Even the tradition of joint families is fading fast and now people can stay with a nuclear family to preserve their satisfaction.
According to the Indian tradition, we believe to share our thoughts, respect, happiness and sorrow with other who live in the same society, but western culture slowly penetrate into our own society and people follow western tradition without knowing the adverse affects of westernization.
We need to preserve our culture, tradition and heritage, and we have to follow our family tradition to preserve our Indian identity.
